Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Short version: this app collects no personal data. Zero.

Is The Ring Open? (istheringopen.com) is a community-built Progressive Web App and Android app that displays live track status for the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Grand Prix Circuit.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, no cookies, and no tracking of any kind.

Third-party services

The app displays track status data sourced from the official Nürburgring API. Requests to that API are made server-side on our proxy — your device communicates only with istheringopen.com.

The app is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Firebase may log standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, request path) as part of their infrastructure. These logs are not used by us and are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Push notifications

If you opt into track alerts, your browser generates a push subscription token. This token is stored locally on your device only and used solely to deliver notifications you requested. It is never shared with third parties.

Offline data

The app caches data locally in your browser using standard Service Worker APIs. This cached data (track status, schedule) never leaves your device.

Children

This app is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date above will be updated. Given the app collects no data, material changes are unlikely.
